Safety Length – Routine 1

An Intro to Safety Length.  4 drills that allow you to focus in on your technique and how to to hit Safety Length.

Remember, this is a Defensive shot that is giving you time to return to the T.

Swing should be low to high and should hit high on the wall (Zone 4).

Get ball tight on the wall landing in the back court.

ROUTINE

#1. Backcourt Continuous Safety Length

Sdeep, Ssafe,Ssafe, Cont.
  1. Feed: Straight length to back court
  2. Return: Safety length
  3. Continuous: Safety length

Ball Control - Hit ball high on front wall and below side wall out line. Slow/medium speed.

#2. Mid Court Continous Safety Length

hSmid, Ssafe
  1. Feed: Hard Straight length in mid court
  2. Return: Safety length

Shorter backswing. Return reaches deep back court.

#3. Backcourt Continuous Length into Safety

ContSrally, Ssafe
  1. Continuous: Rally Length to backcourt
  2. IF Return: If is tight to wall or you are out of position, THEN safety length

Familiarize yourself in which situation you should hit safety length.

#4. Cross court into Safety

Xdeep, Ssafe
  1. Feed: Cross court to back court
  2. Return: Safety Length

 

Follow along ball (don’t overcrowd). Familiarize yourself with different angles.
